"Something like intuition, soaked in instinct as fate plays its hand..this is Blanco."

Sweat is one of the signs of a normal, healthy integumentary system. So our objective will never be to stop sweat, to do so ignores the natural functions of the body and our health. But we do aim to stop odour and mask the effects of sweat, we do this with ‘Blanco’. Humans are designed to sweat, armpits in particular have evolved as a key component in our bodies heat management and toxin excretion systems –mess with these at your peril. Sending toxins away from armpits back into the body only creates stress elsewhere by asking other parts of our natural excretion and perspiration systems to do more than what they are designed to do. So promoting the complete blocking of sweat in the name of self-confidence or comfort is not our bag. Our ethos is to work with the body’s natural flow by working with it to limit excess moisture and control the aromas created through the excretion of sweat. It’s this control of aroma that we are most interested in. With our deodorant Blanco, the goal is to limit body odour by impairing the bacteria that produce it, dousing them with fragrant notes of Bergamot and Lime.

When sweat evaporates from the surface of your skin, it removes excess heat and cools you. Essential if you're in a desert. Unfortunately, when we are nervous or afraid, this also produces an increase in epinephrine secretion in our sweat glands, the palms and armpits to make sweat. Hence that 'cold' sweat we feel when asking out a hot date.
There are two types of sweat gland: eccrine and apocrine. When the eccrine sweat gland is stimulated, our cells secrete a fluid similar to plasma. It is mostly water with high concentrations of sodium and chloride and a low concentration of potassium. The apocrine sweat glands produce the same, however, they also include proteins and fatty acids, which make it thicker and give it an opaque colour. It's this type of sweat that bacteria love. Unchecked, they metabolise the proteins and fatty acids and produce an unpleasant odour. But that's where our Deodorant slides in to fight the bacteria.

1/ Kawakawa, Bergamot and Lime combine with organic Lavender and the natural benefits of Baking Soda to calm perspiration and neutralise our body's odour.

2/ Calms sweat and attacks odour, without halting the bodies natural excretion or heating system. We do this by reducing the bacteria on our skin, but only the ones that create odour.

3/ Baking soda is alkaline, meaning it counteracts the bacteria-loving acids in sweat and acts as a natural balancing agent for armpit odour.

KEY INGREDIENTS

Begamot - Bergamot oil is extracted from the rinds of the Citrus bergamia plant. Common throughout the Mediterranean, the fruit is the size of an orange, yet similar in colour to a lime. Like other citrus fruits, bergamot has a distinctive fragrance that gives off a memorable top note that combines with natural compounds in the oil to deliver anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, all of which we exploit in Blanco.
Kawakawa Extract -  In Te Reo Māori (New Zealand’s indigenous language) refers to the bitter taste of the leaves, kawa meaning bitter. Also referred to as NZ Pepper Tree, Kawakawa was one of the most important plants in Rongoā ( traditional Māori medicine), used externally for cuts, wounds and bruises and applied as a treatment for toothache, nettle stings and eczema due to its natural anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. We use it for much the same properties, to treat scalp and calm heads. believe that it makes for a great ingredient in a cleansing, calming body wash.
Lime - Lime oil has astringent, cleansing and toning effects for oily, congested or acne-prone skin. Traditionally lime has been used to treat wounds, warts, and other skin conditions. It can be found in tonics of varied treatments from greasy hair, to anti-fungal lotions to deodorants. It's like that clever ambidextrous friend you have who can play all sports and is handsome and funny too.
Aloe Vera - Most of us are well aware of the benefits and properties of this awesome plant. Ask anyone with sunburn what they are reaching for and the answer will be Aloe Vera. We use Aloe Vera for its all-around properties to help us inhibit bacterial and fungal activity. The calming & cooling effect of Aloe Vera adds to the overall sensation of our deodorant.
Baking Soda / Sodium Bicarbonate - Baking Soda is alkaline, meaning it counteracts the bacteria-loving acids in sweat and acts as a natural balancing agent for armpit odour. Our formula has been developed to be low pH, making it gentle on the skin, but strong enough to mask the effect of bacteria and the odour they create.
Lavender Extract - We use a bespoke infusion of organic lavender as the vehicle to get all the other fragrance ingredients to the show. Lavender is your friendly train conductor doing all the hard yards to make sure the team is there on time and ready to play.
